SISELY Phyto-Blanc Spot Whitening

UeSung

A surprise gift (apparently it's RM1200++)

By far the best spot whitening serum I tried.

Applied on the same spot every day and night. By the third day, the spot develop dry skin and flake off. The spot colour is lighter already.

It really works and it doesn't "sting" at all.

No wonder SISLEY is loved by all the tai-tai's and celebrities.

Sushi Teh awkward take on Truffle

UeSung

I generally can't refuse truffle (yes, the overpriced fungal) in a restaurant unless it's super expensive and I always have a bottle of truffle oil in the kitchen.

So you can see the smile on my face when I see Sushi Tei season menu with truffle. I wasn't expecting to see a lot of truffle pieces but I am looking forward to the smell of it.  I decided to try with the steamed egg at RM13.80.

But it came out to be really awkward salted egg smell. If truffle smells or taste  like this no one would want to eat truffle.

So yeah, I hope this post stop you from getting the most unpleasant experience of the prized mushroom on earth.

Black Market Kampung Pandan

UeSung

This post is extremely un-halal. Everything has a hint of the animal we term as pig. I put the only clean picture at the top. It's a Dilmah tea served at RM 15. Scroll down at your own risk. Don't say I didn't warn you.

The portion of the mushroom soup is rather small but am really grateful that there's no hint breadcrumbs inside.

A potato salad with caviar on top. Taste like.. potato mayo salad?

Ordered a pan fried salmon. Simpler to cook things comes first. [I can cook better]

And the duck leg. Which meat is overly dry. Don't be fooled by the outside sauce.

Then the normal ribs. We order this so we could compare with the special black pig ribs.

And came the special ribs. Taste wise, the normal ribs are better. Texture wise, this rib is softer, slightly juicier and very much oily.

A porky pizza to fill the hunger. Nothing much to shout about.

Finally, the long awaited Spanish Black Pig Neck (Spanish black pig is so clean it's said that you could eat raw.) It's pretty good but not enough to bring me here again.

I didn't go wow over any of the dishes but they are all consumable. Total damage is about RM 590.

Jibby and Co Empire Subang

UeSung

Jibby & Co is located standalone outside of Empire Subang Mall main building. It feels like walking into a modern cafe in Europe with natural sunlight. You should drop by here on a lazy day instead of Starbucks.

The menu were a pretty interesting mix but we are not hungry so we ordered two light items.

A salad with micro herbs. It is called the Panko Crumbed Soft Boil Egg and Smoked Salmon Salad (RM35). They probably dropped half of the egg while taking the dish out of the kitchen. The oil dressing are very light it doesn't taste like there is any sauce at all. But if you like greens and smoke salmon you will do fine with this beautiful dish.

Prawn, Pan Fried Salmon with ... served in Hot Pot (RM38). The menu is so long I forget the full name but it is a decent seafood stew in thick tomato sauce. That is all. You get squid, clams, fish and prawn with toasted bread. Hearty comfort food.

Total damage: RM73. We order drinking water which was free.

Uokatsu Japanese Food Plaza Damas

UeSung
For reasons unknown (not to some people. ok, maybe just me), this place is famous for the unusual Japanese food in Sri Hartamas.

The must order and best item in my view is this Mentai Rice (RM18). Sort and lightly char creamy roe on top of sweet omelet with stripes of seaweed on rice for a fresh and fragrant aftertaste.

We asked about the servings of the scallops before ordering to gauge if we need to order two of these (RM33 each) scallops on shell. The waiter told us it has four piece and it turns out to be one big scallops cut into cubes that has lost all taste and rubbery to bite. Forget about ordering this.

I forget the exact name of this dish but I think it is sashimi rice (RM22 I think). The special sauce coating the fish is soy sauce. Not something I would eat again either.

I miss very good horse mackerel sushi since I had one piece in Oribe and was really excited to find this (RM45) item here. It looks great but taste just like - local saba sashimi you get for RM12.90 a fish in Jusco? No wonder horse mackerel is not such a prized item.

Finally, as I wasn't satisfied with the meal we ordered a cod teriyaki (RM40). The piece of fish was ok itself but it was drenched in soy sauce!

They offer items that you usually don't find elsewhere. However, I don't find them particularly good and you have to live with the mostly unfriendly staff.

Total damage: RM198 for two.

Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment and Loccitane Lip Balm

UeSung

Unlike some tint lip balm that has a very waxy feel or makes your lips dry a few hours after application - Fresh Sugar Lips stays on over 12hrs and I wake up with soft and smooth lips. I never thought I would say this but it's worth every penny of the RM89 I spend on this lip treatment.

But I was looking for a more natural shade and I decided to try Loccitane limited edition lip balm. I think it's a fair comparison, given that both retail at the same price (RM89). The tint is more natural and smells great like every product you find in Loccitane. However, it doesn't moisture your lips as much and makes my lips 'dry' after few hours, like what happens when I use those cheap lip balm, only to a lesser degree.

So Fresh Sugar Tint wins, for now. :)
